Black History is EVERYBODY'S HISTORY!


The Gamutt salutes all the visionaries, pioneers, activists, Earth-shakers and history makers that made an impact on history. It's just not Black History it is all of our history.

It is clear that African-Americans have significantly impacted the development of social, political and economic structures of The United States, and the World. It is important that we celebrate the efforts and achievements that African-Americans have made to society. By educating others about the contributions African-Americans have made, we are thus promoting a better understanding of the people and in turn this promotes more racial harmony.




Black History Month has its roots to the early 20th century. Carter G. Woodson is known as the "Father of Black History".




Woodson was the 2nd African-American to earn a Ph.D from Harvard University ( W.E.B. DuBois was the 1st). In 1915, Dr. Woodson founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life & History, now called the Association for the Study of African-American Life & History. Under Woodson's pioneering leadership, the Association

created research and publication outlets for black scholars

with the establishment of the Journal of Negro History (1916) and the Negro History Bulletin (1937), which

garners a popular public appeal.













In 1926, Woodson initiated the Celebration of Negro History Week, which corresponded with the birthdays of the great abolitionist Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln, "The Great Emancipator". In 1976, this celebration was expanded to include the entire month. Many people wonder why Black History Month was chosen to be celebrated in the shortest month of the year? This was indeed chosen by design by the actual founder. It was not given to us as a way to slight the African-American experience in any way.




Today Black History Month garners support throughout the country as people of ALL ethnic & social backgrounds discuss, celebrate and embrace the Black Experience.

Oh did we forget to mention that this year, a 30-second spot costs a staggering $4 million, while a 60-second promo goes for a jaw-dropping $8 million. With that type of INVESTMENT, these ads better pack a mighty PUNCH, RIGHT!!?? Right!

New Movie: 'That Awkward Moment' starring #ZacEfron & #MichaelBJordan Opens TODAY! [video]

It's FINALLY HERE GUYS! 'That Awkward Moment' opens NATIONWIDE today!

This looks to be a FUNNY, FEEL GOOD, BRO'S movie.

The red band trailer for Zac Efron, Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan's comedy That Awkward Moment (formerly Are We Officially Dating?) has debuted online.

In the movie, three friends played by Efron, Teller and Jordan struggle to stay single despite vowing to do so after Jordan's character breaks up with his girlfriend.

The risque trailer features a naked Efron sprawled across a toilet after he and his friends' plan to take Viagra so they can still have sex after drinking goes awry.


There's also a comedic dispute over peanut-butter ice cream as Teller and Efron's characters refuse to let Jordan's character drown his sorrows in dessert after his breakup. "Who are you, Bridget Jones?" Efron asks.
