On a COLD and BLISTERY night in Atlanta, the STARS of the Will Packer- produced 'Ride Along' POPPED into Atlanta for a pre-screening of what's sure to be one of the 1st HIT BUDDY FLICKS of the winter, 'Ride Along'. The RED CARPET was set and the CELEBS all came out to support Hart and Cube on a TRULY FUNNY and action-packed flick. The STAR-STUDDED RED CARPET arrivals included Ludacris, Monica, T.I. and Tiny, Kandi Burruss and of course Will Packer, Ice Cube and Kevin Hart all braving the ELEMENTS to present this film! [details] Posted: 16 Jan 2014 04:15 PM PST  The Gaye family wins undisclosed settlement in copyright infringement case The children of soul icon Marvin Gaye were victorious in the courtroom for a copyright infringement case for the Robin Thicke sung, Grammy nominated hit "Blurred Lines" that sounds similar to their father's song, "Got To Give It Up". On Tuesday, a judge in LA granted Nona and Frankie Gaye a dismissal of their lawsuit against EMI, which is now owned by Sony/ATV Music Publishing. The Gayes accused EMI of refusing to file an infringement case against Thicke on behalf of the song because of its obvious similarities to Marvin. The undisclosed amount of the settlement between the Gayes and Sony have an agreement where these claims can never be brought up again. Thicke, T.I., and Pharrell all asked a federal judge in August to rule that "Blurred Lines", which was nominated for Record of the Year at last year's Grammys, was not a copy of Marvin Gaye's hit. Blurred Lines sold 6.6 digital copies and spent 12 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The Gaye family lawsuit against Thicke and Sony sought to prevent the singer from using elements from their father's music in his other songs, as they also claimed that Thicke used part of Marvin Gaye's "After The Dance" on his number 1 R&B hit, "Love After War". {Source} Well, at least this is OVER, or is it. Anyone that have heard the two SONGS could CLEARLY HEAR that 'Blurred Lines' had a lot of ELEMENTS of 'Got to give it up'. [details] Posted: 16 Jan 2014 11:25 AM PST  The 2014 Academy Awards nominations were announced today and there were some HIGHS and LOWS of course. Some noteworthy NODS and some OBVIOUS SNUBS! GET THE DIRT after the JUMP!  The nominations for the 86th Annual Academy Awards were announced on Thursday, Jan. 16, with American Hustle and Gravity leading the pack with 10 nods each. The Golden Globe-winning 12 Years a Slave, meanwhile, is being recognized in nine categories. As with every awards show, some predicted contenders were left off the list—and E! News is taking a closer look at which actors were snubbed.  Saving Mr. Banks star Emma Thompson was ignored in the Best Actress category in favor of American Hustle's Amy Adams, Blue Jasmine's Cate Blanchett, Gravity's Sandra Bullock, Philomena's Judi Dench and August: Osage County's Meryl Streep. The English actress portrayed Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers in the critically polarizing Disney movie. Labor Day's Kate Winslet was also overlooked. Tom Hanks didn't receive nominations for his work in Captain Phillips or Saving Mr. Banks, either. The actor, who is a two-time Academy Award winner, earned raves for his performance in the maritime thriller. His work resulted in Golden Globes, BAFTAs and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations. Lee Daniels' The Butler failed to secure a single nomination at the Oscars. Similar to the Golden Globe Awards, presumed nominee Oprah Winfrey was ignored in the Best Supporting Actress category. In fact, the five women vying for the honor— Sally Hawkins, Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong'o, Julia Roberts and June Squibb—were the same group of people up for the award at the Golden Globes. All Is Lost's Robert Redford, Lee Daniels' The Butler's Forest Whitaker, Mandela: The Long Walk to Freedom's Idris Elba and Her's Joaquin Phoenix were left out of the Best Actor category. via:E!
