Flashback Friday- #GOODTIMES 'Fun Girl' #SharonBrown THEN & NOW! [video]

Posted: 13 Sep 2013 03:48 PM PDT

I have had this fascination with "Fun Girl".  Remember the girl from 'Good Times' in the wheelchair that deceived Michael over the CB (The world's 1st Chat Line-LOL).  She played 'Nancy' the young lady who was bound to a wheelchair, but took a liking to Michael over a CB conversation where Michael pretended to be J.J.

Fun Girl from Good time is ne' Sharon Brown. daughter of Johnny Brown who played Bookman on the show.
Film credits include A Chorus Line (1985), For Keeps (1988), Sister Act 2 (1993), What's Love Got to Do with It (1993), Blues Brothers 2000 (1998) and Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999). On television, Brown played the character Daisy on the CBS soap opera Love of Life in 1971, and she originated the role of Chantel on the NBC soap Generations from 1989 to 1990. She portrayed a young Louise in a 1981 flashback episode of The Jeffersons titled "And the Doorknobs Shined Like Diamonds". Other episodic television credits include Good Times, A Different World and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

DIVA-TUDE! #RBDIVALA star #ChanteMoore clears the air!! Says 'Diva Tour' is canceled and goes in on #KellyPrice! [vid]

Posted: 13 Sep 2013 03:05 PM PDT

Now that the 1st season of 'R&B Divas L.A.' is in the can, we get the REAL DEAL on all the SHENANIGANS, smoke and mirrors and Chante Moore DISHES on the SHOW and the whole DEAL with her and Kelly Price.  Oh, and this little gem of info is that the 'Divas' tour is CANCELED--according to Chante Moore.  Moore say down with thejasminebrand to CLEAR THE AIR.

On the 'R&B Divas Tour' announcement made by Kelly during the reunion show:

"Well it was a premature announcement that was made by Kelly. I didn't know that she's going to make that announcement on the show but I thought that I should let it go at that time because the reunion was taped a couple of weeks ago. I thought by now, it would be cleared up or settled – that it would happen or would be for sure, or either way and at this moment, nothing is happening. That tour was cancelled so I was a little uneasy by that [announcement].
I did get the list of people and I was ready to do it and I still would do it. What I didn't like is that it [the announcement] was made before paperwork was done."

That's just the TIP OF THE ICEBERG! IT GETS DEEPER!!!

On who was really behind the 'divalogues' idea:

"It was not Kelly's idea, but if you go back and listen, she always says, "The idea, I present it to the ladies". She never says, "My idea" – she never says it. And it was not her idea, otherwise we would get sued, she would have shut everything down because it would have been her idea; because we would have never been able to [still] do it if it was hers.

I just really want to get it [out] that I wasn't trying to take over anything – the producers were producing as far as – "Here is the man that's going to be the director" and we all complied because we weren't the bosses, we were hired! She was hired, I was hired, and all six ladies were hired by the production company."

On Kelly blaming the editing for her portrayal on the show:
"What I haven't liked is the scapegoat of editing that has been put up, and I've really been quiet up until now about it because I'm like – Well, whatever you say is okay because the show is the show. But I'm getting a little tired of it all being thrown at -'Oh, those dog-on producers, they edit it and edit i' – nobody can edit the words and put the words in your mouth if it's coming out of your mouth on the screen. It really did come out of her mouth, and she was mean on screen, and off-screen; and I didn't care for that – that wasn't an act. She wasn't acting, if she was acting I think that was a really big risk to come off mean as she did – I would never do that because people take it as reality even if it's fake.

On whether or not Kelly Price actually requested not to shoot scenes with her:
Yes. And I never saw her again on set, at all. Her make-up was in a whole other room, all the other girls and I were in the other room we used to be in – hers was somewhere else. We never filmed together again.

And when I saw her at the premiere thing they had – I literally walked up to her, and I stood in front of her saying, "Okay, are you – was this an act before – now, show's over! Are you going to say Hello to me? She looked at me, turned her head and said, "I need a drink" and walked away!

SO season 2 should be GREAT. Word from the CURB is that R&B Divas L.A. will be getting two NEW 'DIVAS' and that Dawn is a WRAP!! You want a HINT as to who the TWO maybe, well... let's just "I Love Your Smile" and "I'm So Into You"..... SO... just use your IMAGINATION!

Back to CHANTE--remember she said she could do a ''ONE WOMAN SHOW"??  Well let's remind you just WHY---

That's just a little TASTE.. courtesy of facebook fan Ceddie Ced!!

Remembering the LIFE and LEGACY of #TupacShakur! [videos]

Posted: 13 Sep 2013 12:38 PM PDT

Tupac Shakur's lyrics are still very present today just as they were when he was here with us. The lyrics, "How Long Will They Mourn Me," are forever a historical piece of poetry that will never be forgotten. So it's only right that he is still such an icon in todays' pop culture scene.

Friday, September 13 – today – marks the 17th anniversary of the day the rapper was fatally shot at the age of 25 after attending a Mike Tyson heavyweight championship fight in Las Vegas. Although that horrible shooting stole one of the most influential stars of hip hop to date, the THUG LIFE emcee incredibly influenced a fleet of artist that are still using his samples or snippets of his lyrics in rap culture today.

During his lifetime, 2pac released multi-platinum albums and was nominated for Grammy awards including Best Rap Album for 1995's "Me Against the World" and 1996's "All Eyez on Me."

17 years after his death, Tupac is still credited as a major influence for current hip-hop music, regularly immortalized in lyrics and tribute songs. Today we REMEMBER the LIFE and LEGACY that Pac left us and that is STILL so OMNIPRESENT in HIP HOP TODAY. Tupac's INFLUENCE will FOREVER be ETCHED in the annals of POP CULTURE! So today we TRIBUTE one of the GREATEST POETS there ever was.

MORE TUPAC after the JUMP!
