| 'Ugly' R&B Groups that were HUGE in their HEYDAY! [videos] Posted: 07 Mar 2014 01:03 PM PST  In today's CROWDED HIP-HOP, Pop, ROCK, R&B market, IMAGE is EVERYTHING! You have to have the COMPLETE PACKAGE in order to make it. TO grab and KEEP the audience's attention, There has to be sex appeal, the look and the packaging to go far. BUT..back in the day, IMAGE was not the BIGGEST factor that determined your success--TALENT was. Now talent often takes a backseat to that MODEL-esque face, or those abs, or a bit DONKEY BOOTY and on and on like a rolling stone. Today we are going to go back and dig into some HUGE R&B acts that were not always EASY on the eyes. Let's call them UGLY/pretty groups from back in the day.... 'Ugly' -meaning ROUGH LOOKING at the beginning.... I don't want anybody EMAILING me about ending up on this list....HERE WE GO.... Troop:  They had hits like 'All I Do (Is think of you) & 'Spread my Wings' but they was looking a lil CRAZY with them gherri curl HIGH-tops and GLOSSY LIPS... They had that CHOREOGRAPHY DOWN PAT though... BlackGirl  Bangin' bodies but those faces look like the HORSE from the CHESS BOARD. One of them was okay, but look at the one with that WACKY eye. Ugly/pretty. There are more HOT 'UGLY/Pretty' GROUPS after the JUMP! Ruff Endz Rugged R&B dudes with a hip-hop SWAG... Tyra probably wouldn't be calling them for any photo shoots, but they could really SING! Xscape  HUGE SUCCESS these ladies had. But let's face it, when they were first presented to us, they were pretty ROUGH. They were supposed to be the equivlent to the female version of Jodeci. So they wore baggy clothes and had a hard, masculine edge. Sure they shed that image after the 1st disc, but we still remember that first impression. NOW TODAY...things are different but back then...that look was TOO HARD! Silk  Another MONSTER group discovered by none other than Keith Sweat. Huge hits, signature sound, but alas, still they were LOOKING CRAZY back in the day! A few looked like they were old enough to hang out with my Dad and his buddies....even when they were YOUNG. A little ARTIST DEVELOPMENT goes a LONG WAY! BoyIIMen  One of the BIGGEST R&B/Pop group of the 90's..MONSTER HITS and they are still giving the fans what they want. But there were no RUNWAY models in the bunch. STYLE Trendsetters? INDEED! Color Me Badd  Huge hit in the 90's...but half of the group....I'm sure got less groupies than the other half. Pick your 2! All 4 One  'I Swear' I don't have to many nice things to say..so I'll just leave you with their HIT! I LOVE MUSIC, all ASPECTS of it. BUT we all START off looking a bit ROUGH until we get it right, so don't email me going off... You eventually got it together in the end.... The question arises, "WHO IS THIS GUY'S DAD!?" I mean, does Miki Howard, the mom not know? She has not spoken PUBLICLY about it. Let me get my assistant to call down to 'Dollar General' and see if Miki Howard is working today so we can get some clarity on this. LOL. I KEED I KEED. But really, who is the father?? WE MAY KNOW. Another singer has stepped up claiming to be Brandon Howard's DAD and he has a connection to 'The King of Pop'! Singer Augie Johnson has declared that HE is the real father of Brandon Howard--debunking the alleged DNA results released yesterday. Augie, 65, was one of the backing singers on Michael Jackson's 1979 breakthrough album, 'Off The Wall', and went on form the band, Side Effect. Augie - who was in a long-term relationship with Brandon's mom, singer Miki Howard - said he very much considers Brandon, now 31, to be his natural son.  'I KNOW Brandon's my son - I was there in the delivery room, I have the pictures of him being born. I got the records, I got everything. 'Before me, Miki wasn't with anyone else - she didn't even know Michael at that time. But you know what - I love my son and he can do whatever he likes. I'm not tripping on this - I want Brandon to have a successful career.' That's not the HALF! Augie is spilling MORE DISH on this whole CHARADE! Family photos and MIKI HOWARD chimes in as well..after the JUMP! 'Brandon spent a lot of time with Jackson kids over there, this was during the time when Miki and I broke up and she was hating me for a few years because we didn't get married.' I know my son- he's got a lot of drama going on. Brandon was once praised as the 'reincarnation of Michael Jackson'. However, Augie said: 'They have these pictures with Michael and Brand on looking alike, but how can you compare my son and Michael. Michael don't look like that - that's not his original look. 'Brandon just happens to be one of those kids - the wannabe Michael kids - his whole life. He loved Michael Jackson so much. 'He wanted to look more like him and he had a little success in Japan, that's where this whole thing started. It became this mystery that he would never answer. 'It's been a plan for a long time, he wants to help his career, that's what I believe. 'Any kind of controversy that gets out there in the world, right now, helps.' Miki Howard joined Side Effect as a 16-year-old singer, and asked about any romance with Michael, Augie said: 'She was never romantically involved with Michael. He didn't even know her.' | King of Pop alleged son #BrandonHoward DNA results EXPOSED as FAKE & PHONY! [details] Posted: 07 Mar 2014 08:33 AM PST  SURPRISED---not really.... So all the HUB-BUB about Michael Jackson allegedly having a SECRET SON, Brandon Howard came to a HEAD this week, when DNA results revealed that MJ was 99.999% THE FATHER. But come to find out, the alleged DNA company that performed the test does not exist and the logo that appears on the suspect 'RESULTS' is a common logo found during a simple Google image search. Talking about CATFISHED!  TMZ did some digging and found out just how BOGUS the results actually were. As they reported, FilmOn.com's Alki David put on a spectacle Thursday. The company claimed to have DNA results proving singer B Howard was the biological son of the King of Pop. He then produced the results showing a "99.99999%" probability that MJ was Brandon's dad. TMZ obtained a photo of the DNA doc -- allegedly from a testing facility in Ireland called "DNA Lab." They searched high and low but could find no such generic DNA lab in Ireland. Skeptical, they investigated -- a simple Google image search of "DNA results" turns up a bunch of sample docs with the same exact easily-stealable format as the one we got. But the coup de grace -- we then Google image searched "DNA logo" and the first result ... literally ... was the same DNA pic used in the "DNA Lab" logo.  Are we REALLY SURPRISED? Not really. But a bit more digging proved that the DNA logo--the SAME EXACT ONE was used for promo material for 'The Terminator' movie. So NOW we see why Brandon Howard was quick to try to distance himself from the PHONY BALONEY DNA results! He KNEW DAMN WELL MJ was not his DADDY! SMH. We should have known it was a JOKE when Katherine Jackson didn't prop herself up on a counter somewhere to make a PUBLIC STATEMENT about it. The 'Wipe Me Down' rapper was seen copping new GEAR and SHOES for him and his children--Polo, Footaction and MORE! You have to be FRESH after wearing PRISON ORANGE for 5 years, RIGHT!?  Expect more INFO about the PRESS conference to come in the next few days. It is expected he is to announce a new album. Reid!?? Remember last year, Timbaland dropped the bomb that he was actually working on a OFFICIALLY sanctioned MJ project with L.A. Reid on board! Well it appears that this MAY ACTUALLY come to pass. Just last night, the UBER -producer teased a new Michael Jackson track, 'Slave to the Rhythm'. It's just a SNIPPET, but it's enough to make me EXCITED and I am sure MJ would be HAPPY at the direction. CHECK IT OUT!!
