Anything can HAPPEN, BRACKET-BREAKING, TEAR JERKING DEFEATS all go down in MARCH!!  It's not often that a team wins a game in which it gets out-rebounded by nine, and in which it doesn't score its first second-chance points until late in the second half, but it does happen. Mercer coach Bob Hoffman had a plan: Make Duke beat his team with long jump shots and take away everything else. It worked. The 14th-seeded Bears stunned the No. 3 Blue Devils 78-71 on Friday in the Midwest region.  Mercer — which beat Florida Gulf Coast in the Atlantic Sun championship on March 9 to reach the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1985 — starts five seniors, and the Bears' experience showed against the callow Blue Devils. Duke, which opted to shoot over the top of the Mercer zone, made 14-of-37 three-pointers, but the Blue Devils' perimeter scoring couldn't overcome their poor interior play. Down low, things were easy for the Bears, who shot 56 percent. Duke, on the other hand, made just 28 percent of its two-point field goal attempts, and didn't get much from stars Rodney Hood and Jabari Parker. This is the second time in the past three years that the Blue Devils have bowed out in the round of 64. They were a No. 2 seed when they lost 75-70 to Lehigh in the 2012 NCAA tournament. [details] Posted: 21 Mar 2014 08:32 AM PDT  When Jason Collins first announced to the WORLD that he was GAY, and then was signed to The Nets, I guess it should have been EXPECTED that everyone would not accept his sexuality with open arms. It appears the UGLY head of HOMOPHOBIA has reared its head. Collins says that since signing with the Nets, he has been the TARGET of gay taunts and homophobic slurs. From Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News: From the moment he embarked down this trailblazing path, Jason Collins has said that he'd turn the other cheek when faced with ignorance, accepting that he can't control the words and actions of idiots.  He was tested once during his first month with the Brooklyn Nets, although the NBA's first openly gay player understandably doesn't want to give attention to the "knucklehead" or his comments. … And Collins handled the negativity like he anticipated – with a silent disregard."One player, one knucklehead from another team," Collins said in an interview with the Daily News. "He's a knucklehead. So I just let it go. Again, that goes back to controlling what you can control. That's how I conduct myself – just being professional." Not giving the SITUATION or the 'TAUNTER' the power to 'control' him was the right way to handle things. The NBA is a VAST PLACE. Some will accept and others WON'T. The WORST INSULT as a BLACK MAN is to call them a FAGGOT! INSULTING One's SEXUALITY is the ULTIMATE show of DISRESPECT. To be a MAN is to be MASCULINE. In the eyes of some to be GAY is to acquire the traits of a FEMALE--in some people's eyes. | PAY ME!! More TAX PROBLEMS for #LaurynHill! Slapped with ANOTHER BILL! 867K to be EXACT! Posted: 21 Mar 2014 08:00 AM PDT  It seems like Lauryn Hill and paying taxes just don't JIVE! The 'Killing Me Softly Singer', just 6 months after serving a bid for tax evasion has been slapped with ANOTHER HEFTY IRS bill--to the tune of 867K! According to tax documents filed on January 14 the IRS has served Hill with seven separate liens for a grand total of $866,868.05.  The IRS claims that in 2005, Hill failed to pay $422,008.26. For 2006, she owes $19,838.75; 2007, $61,158.50; 2008, $58,405.71; 2009, $30370.91; 2010, $13,247.73; and 2011, $261,838.19. So either Hill needs a NEW ACCOUNTANT or something. Why aren't the taxes being paid!? Hill is currently on a nationwide tour, so INCOME is coming in. It's just that she doe not want Uncle Sam to get his share. We will keep an EYE on this one.
