'One Day At A Time' star #BonnieFranklin DEAD at 69!!! [video]

Sad news to report today.  Veteran actress and star of 'One Day At A Time', Bonnie Franklin has passed away due to complications from PANCREATIC CANCER.



Franklin had announced she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September 2012.

Ms. Franklin acted on the stage and in movies and for years sang and danced in a nightclub act. But she was most widely known in the role of Ann Romano, one of the first independent women to be portrayed on TV wrestling with issues like sexual harassment, rape and menopause. Ms. Franklin — green-eyed, red-haired, button-nosed and 5-foot-3 — brought a buoyant comic touch to the part.
Some saw the show as helping feminism enter the mainstream.

"I know it's just a television show, and I don't think that I am changing the way the world is structured," Ms. Franklin told The Washington Post in 1980, but she allowed that "sometimes we strike chords that do make people think a bit."



"One Day at a Time" ran from December 1975 to May 1984, and its ratings ranked in the top 20 in eight of those seasons and in the top 10 in four. Ms. Franklin was nominated for an Emmy Award and twice for a Golden Globe.

She was married to playwright Ronald Sossi from 1967 to 1970 and to film producer Marvin Minoff from 1980 until his death in November 2009. She had no children.

After an ALMOST 'FAIRYTALE' season The Atlanta Falcons had this past season, who would've imagined the team making this MOVE!??


The Atlanta Falcons are the latest team to clean house in an attempt to clear space under the salary cap. The team's official Twitter account confirmed the news on Friday morning.



D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Dunta Robinson, John Abraham and Michael Turner will help save the team big money against the salary cap:

Turner's release saves the team $6.4 million under the salary cap. Abraham saves the $5.75 million and Robinson saves $3.75 million. In all, the team got $15.9 million under the salary cap by releasing the three veterans.

All three players filled significant roles for the Falcons last season. Turner remained the team's lead back despite slowing production, Robinson ranked third on the squad in tackles and Abraham led Atlanta with 10 sacks.

While the Falcons do provide themselves with more cap space heading into the offseason, there are now three holes they will need to fill through free agency or the draft. The front office will probably seek younger options.

Is #MantiTeo gay??? NFL wants to know! [details]

Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o's reputation was sullied over his recent dishonesty about his "girlfriend" Lennay Kekua's tragic death who never existed. So much so in fact, that it has many NFL teams bewildered and questioning his worthiness to be included in the NFL draft. The general consensus is, why would he make up such an elaborate lie about having a girlfriend if he weren't hiding the truth about his sexuality? This is not the first time this question has been raised.


 Shortly after the discovery of the hoax, he was interview by Katie Couric, who asked him boldly on-camera if he was gay.

 "Far from it," was his response; however, that answer doesn't seem sufficient for many who are speculating otherwise.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk vocalized the concerns of many NFL teams earlier this week on "The Dan Patrick Radio Show" and said that while he knows none of the teams may come out and ask him directly, it is a question that looms heavily simply because of the stigma attached to addressing sexuality in the NFL. He regards it as the "elephant in the room" that no one wants to talk about but really wants to know.

Not only is Te'o's sexuality a concern, but his performance this past week in on-the-field drills for the NFL combine was very underwhelming. One team, the New York Jets, has already determined they don't want him and that his performance even "scared" them. I think Te'o has pretty much hung himself by senselessly lying, and you already know how people feel about gays on the gridiron. Hope he has a back-up plan!

Neo-soul is NOT dead! #Tweet and #Bilal release new albums [video]

R&B music seems to be making a comeback these days and we are beginning to see the resurgence of true-artistry in the once popular sub-genre of neo-soul. Back in the early 2000's, we fell in love with the mellow sounds of Jill Scott, Floetry, Rahssan Patterson, Tweet, and Bilal. We haven't heard much from some of these artists as of late, but Tweet and Bilal are back with their respective new albums. Missy Elliott protege Tweet burst onto the music scene in 2002 with her debut album Southern Hummingbird, which featured the controversial single about self-pleasure, "Oops (Oh My)" and some other unforgettable but unreleased gems like "Boogie 2Nite," "Motel," and "Smoking Cigarettes." The album even included a duet with Bilal entitled "Best Friend". Her sophomore album It's Me Again didn't garner the same success as her debut, which ultimately resulted in her being dropped from her label. The forthcoming years would be rather quiet for Tweet, as her often-delayed follow-up third album Love, Tweet eventually never saw the light of day. She lent her vocals to a few collaborations with Lil' Mo ("I Love Me"), Syleena Johnson ("Angry Girl"), Keke Wyatt and Kelly Price ("Mirror"), and even dropped a few solo singles here and there over the years, but no sign of a new album until now. Simply Tweet is disappointingly only a 5-track EP and not a full-length album, and is unfortunately not available for purchase at brick-and-mortat retail outlets. You can download it on iTunes, though, and hope that the southern hummingbird will bless us with a full album soon. In the meantime, you can check out the first single from the new project, "Enough":




Bilal's eclectic 2001 debut album 1st Born Second received rave reviews and is regarded by some as a neo-soul classic. It boasted production from Dr. Dre and J. Dilla and featured the singles "Soul Sista" and "Fast Lane." Nine years went by and Bilal was musically dormant, as attempts to release a follow-up were unsuccessful. What was to be his second release, Love For Sale, was deemed unmarketable by his label and never released. He was eventually dropped from the label. He released his sophomore album Airtight's Revenge independently in 2010, but it was not a success. He returns with A Love Surreal, which he says was not intended to be a full album initially, but his creativity started flowing and what started out as an EP evolved into 12 new tracks. "Back To Love" is the first single, and the album is available in stores and via download:

Both albums were released this week.

#MindlessBehavior fans show their... well, "mindless behavior"! Teens cause a mall riot!

Who knew boy band Mindless Behavior was THIS hot? Some of their teenaged fans gave new meaning to the phrase "tear the mall up" this past Sunday. They did JUST THAT -- literally -- after an autograph signing by the group at Ford City Mall outside of Chicago, Illinois. A little less than an hour after their appearance, a group of teens entered the mall and caused sheer pandemonium.

 For no apparent reason, they began to riot and loot stores, break things, and one teen even threw a stack of $100 bills in the air, causing many of the teens to stampede each other in pursuit of the money. More than 100 people were involved in the incident, twenty were arrested, and two people were injured. When over 50 police squad cars had to be used to evacuate the teens from the mall, the chaos then spilled into the parking lot where some of the kids began to prance on top of cars, even breaking a few windshields. Wow.. I guess these fans were trying to make sure they lived up to the group's name. They just premiered the video for their new single "Keep Her On The Low" and will release their sophomore album All Around The World on March 12.
