Remembering #Glee star #CoryMonteith! Dead at 31!!

Posted: 14 Jul 2013 03:25 PM PDT

I am not ASHAMED to admit that I am a fan of Fox's hit show 'Glee'!  SO it saddens me that one of the stars, Cory Monteith, famously known for his role as 'Finn Hudson' has DIED at the age of 31!!

According to police in Vancouver the actor was found dead in his hotel room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel around noon ... when staffers went to check on him after the actor missed his check-out time.

In a press conference, officials said the actor was "clearly deceased" -- and had been so for several hours -- when police arrived on the scene.

Cops say Cory checked-in to the Fairmont on July 6th and was scheduled to leave July 13th. It is unclear why he was in Vancouver, but cops did mention he's from Canada and visits often.

The night before his death, Cory was seen in his room hanging with friends, before hitting the town ... but came back early Saturday morning ... alone.

Some sources are speculating that DRUGS may have played a role in Monteith's death.

In prior interviews, Cory admitted to previously being into "anything and everything, as much as possible," and had been in rehab by the age of 19 as well as earlier this year.

Cory's last tweet read, "what the crap is a Sharknado ... oh. IT'S A SHARK TORNADO." Likable just like his character on 'Glee'

Monteith will be missed!

#GeorgeZimmerman -NOT GUILTY!! What Happens NOW!? #NAACP seeks CIVIL CHARGES! [details]

Posted: 14 Jul 2013 02:03 PM PDT

SANFORD, Fla. — George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, igniting a national debate on racial profiling and civil rights, was found not guilty late Saturday night of second-degree murder. He was also acquitted of manslaughter, a lesser charge.

After three weeks of testimony, the six-woman jury rejected the prosecution's contention that Mr. Zimmerman had deliberately pursued Mr. Martin because he assumed the hoodie-clad teenager was a criminal and instigated the fight that led to his death.

Mr. Zimmerman said he shot Mr. Martin on Feb. 26, 2012, in self-defense after the teenager knocked him to the ground, punched him and slammed his head repeatedly against the sidewalk. In finding him not guilty of murder or manslaughter, the jury agreed that Mr. Zimmerman could have been justified in shooting Mr. Martin because he feared great bodily harm or death.

Saturday night when the verdict was read, Mr. Zimmerman, 29, smiled slightly. His wife, Shellie, and several of his friends wept, and his parents kissed and embraced.

Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, who lost their son a few weeks after his 17th birthday, were not in the courtroom.

After the verdict, Judge Debra S. Nelson of Seminole County Court, told Mr. Zimmerman, who has been in hiding and wears a bulletproof vest outside, that his bond was revoked and his GPS monitor would be cut off. "You have no further business with the court," she said.

George Zimmerman is a FREE MAN and Trayvon Martin is no longer here. His family is left to grieve again, and have to go home knowing that JUSTICE for their fallen son was not MET.

What happens NOW?? Where do we go from here?

From San Francisco to Atlanta, late Saturday night and early Sunday morning saw people flooding into the streets. Several cities had braced for riots in the event of an acquittal, but most of the marches were peaceful demonstrations of the verdict.

Here, a look at some of the images and words from impromptu protests, marches, vigils, and gatherings from across the country.

In Atlanta:

ABC News reports that the NAACP wants the Department of Justice to prosecute Zimmerman on civil rights charges.

"We are outraged and heartbroken over today's verdict," NAACP President Benjamin Jealous said in a statement. "We will pursue civil rights charges with the Department of Justice, we will continue to fight for the removal of Stand Your Ground laws in every state, and we will not rest until racial profiling in all its forms is outlawed."

BuzzFeed reports that a petition urging the DOJ to take action had already garnered 115,000 signatures three hours after it was posted last night. As of this writing, the NAACP's site is down.

"The Department of Justice has closely monitored the State of Florida's prosecution of the case against George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin murder since it began," the petition said. "The most fundamental of civil rights — the right to life — was violated the night George Zimmerman stalked and then took the life of Trayvon Martin," the appeal goes on.

"We ask that the Department of Justice file civil rights charges against Mr. Zimmerman for this egregious violation."

My heart goes out to the family of Trayvon Martin today.  I never knew him, but I felt a DEEP SENSE of INJUSTICE as the verdict was read and the defense team reacted, laughed and gloated about their victory.  I am sure this will not be the last time Zimmerman sees the inside of a courtroom.  Justice will prevail.  Maybe not today maybe not even tomorrow, but it will.....'
