| Posted: 19 Oct 2013 09:01 PM PDT  Def Jam's NEWEST R&B crooner, New Orleans native, August Alsina has been making MAJOR WAVES on the music landscape this year with successful mixtapes and his SMASH hit 'I Luv This Sh*t'. He made even more HEADLINES with the release of the SEX-TINGED REMIX of the single where he enlisted Chris Brown and Trey Songz.  But just RECENTLY, August Alsina MAY HAVE upset the LGBT community by allegedly refusing a PHOTO-OP with a TRANSEXUAL FAN!!! Get the DETAILS after the JUMP! A transgender fan of August Alsina ALLEGEDLY tried to get a photo-op and autograph from him when she was refused. The fan seems to think that it may have been due to the fact that she was a TRANSGENDER female. She goes on to explain:  via: Love B.Scott: I went to a concert last night for August Alsina. Before the concert there was a VIP meet and greet which should have consisted of meeting August, receiving a poster, getting an autograph, and a picture. When it was my time to meet him and get my pictures I was refused with the comment "we not doing pictures with you". Not wanting to cause a scene, I pulled my camera phone to take my own pictures. Another guy literally snatched my phone out of my hand so that I was not able to take any pictures! The label has not responded to this situation, but in the COURT OF PUBLIC APPEALS, this is NOT a good look for the new artist, if this indeed happened the way the fan is portraying it. Maybe it was a miscommunication or misunderstanding during the situation and not some HOMOPHOBIC reaction. We all KNOW that in this CLIMATE, you don't want to UPSET any one GROUP of your potential fan base. In the INDUSTRY, the FANS are what make or BREAK celebs and the LGBT community can QUICKLY SHUT YOU DOWN if PUSHED the WRONG WAY.... SO let's hope it was just a MISUNDERSTANDING, right? | Posted: 19 Oct 2013 09:00 PM PDT  Could it be?? An African-American cast as a LEAD actor in a Marvel Comic movie?? It just may come to pass. There are RUMBLINGS that 'Fruitvale Station' star, Michael B. Jordan maybe taking on the role of Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch. In the Marvel franchise, this role was originated by Chris Evans.  RACIST OUTCRY has already BEGUN..get the DETAILS.. This would be a FIRST in Hollywood, and this is sure to draw some RACIST reactions. Back in May when the potential news first made it's rounds, some racial OUTCRY started to HEAT UP.  If this comes to pass, the film would reunite Jordan with Chronicle director Josh Trank, and though the actor has said he'd be "ecstatic" for the opportunity, there's been much backlash over his color-blind casting as the Human Torch has been widely portrayed as white in both the Marvel comics and previous films. We're likely to see these kinds of issues keep coming up as long as remakes and reboots are popular. Most of the comic adaptations dominating the film industry are based on source material that was written generations ago when characters of color were rare, and so expecting to stick to their original racial makeup is to expect actors of color not to work; it's impractical. Let's just hope this comes to pass because this would be a HUGE step in Hollywood and a GREAT BOOST for Jordan's career. If Jordan is signed on to do this ROLE, he is going to have to BULK UP a bit to fill Chris Evans' shoes.   www.thegamutt.com  |
| Vibes From the Vault: #LeftEye hosting #MTV's 'The Cut' [video] Posted: 19 Oct 2013 01:43 PM PDT  Who REMEMBERS one of the 1st reality shows on MTV called 'The Cut' hosted by NONE OTHER than TLC's CREATIVE FORCE, Lisa 'Left-Eye' Lopez!!!?? The show ran from 1997-99 and spawned acts like Silky and Anastacia who came in 2nd place. The show was like a PRECURSOR to 'American Idol' and 'The Voice' featuring UNKNOWN talent vying for a RECORDING CONTRACT! This was a PIONEERING show and I am surprised it did not go longer than it did. Maybe MTV was TOO ahead of its time. But after a Georgia court ruled in Kim Zolciak's FAVOR over the 'Tardy for the Party' song lawsuit, Kandi Burruss has no plans to let it end there! Burruss says that she will PURSUE FURTHER LITIGATION on the matter! More DETAILS after the JUMP!  That was just one level of it," she explains. "Now it goes back to other levels of the court and it's still going on. Burruss sued Zolciak, 35, in March for profits made from the sale of the song, claiming the track was sold "without [the] plaintiffs' authorization, license or consent." Zolciak responded by filing legal documents of her own, accusing Burruss of filing the lawsuit to promote her now-canceled show The Kandi Show. "It's just the principal of it at this point," the Grammy winner tells Us Weekly of the ongoing lawsuit. "It's not about the money. I'm doing great otherwise. It's all just silly. It's not a big deal to me. I've got my daughter and my fiance and am working on new music and a Broadway show that I will star in! So it's all good." via Us Weekly So Kandi, you lost. But that's YOUR fault for not getting all your PAPERS in order before agreeing to help a 'friend'.  I hope she LOSE again, just for being DUMB when it comes to paperwork. All of this could've been avoided had the necessary papers been signed way back when.
